Yoga is simple: calm the involuntary states of your mind to embody integrated wholeness — yogas chitta vritti nirodha
To get there, we learn to commit and fall in love with the process of examining relationships, refining our senses, and observing subtleties in our experiences. With these new insights, we learn to make adjustments in the way we move through the world, on and off the mat, so we live in a more joyful, grounded, integrated way. There is strength in prioritizing care for your body, learning to optimize your breathing patterns and regulate your nervous system.
As a dedicated yoga student and teacher of what I practice, I integrate the "why" of poses and pranayama on our anatomy and, more importantly, their positive influence across the arc of our daily lives. Whether we are learning a cleansing breath technique, a backbend, or a Vedic chant, I emphasize an approach that balance continuous personal growth and evolution, with the necessity of conscious relaxation and release, to model how to sustainably weave a practice yoga into all aspects of daily life.
Yoga is for everyone, but not all types of Yoga are for everyone.
In the yogic philosophy, we acknowledge that each human being has a unique mind-body makeup. I remember when one of my coworkers at a tech company said, “you know, I really proved a yoga teacher wrong when they said yoga was for everybody”. And when I heard this, I chuckled, and I realized how distorted the perception of yoga is depending what you’ve seen and been taught. I can’t blame you because the “yoga marketplace” is messy and competitive in ways that deviate from the essence of yoga.
To circle back to yoga being for everyone, I listen to your needs and teach classes that honor your goals. Together, we find an exploratory, learning process so you experience life with more clarity and energy.
Whether it’s your first class, you need a weekly yoga class for your team, or are a well-seasoned practitioner - yoga helps make things better.
